Quick Details

In the Summer of 2021 I had the amazing opportunity to work as a graduate design and engineering intern at Sony Immersive Music Studios. With my experience design background in virtual space, I prototyped out new forms of digital interactions in Unreal and studied how the music industry connects to the gaming sphere from experts in their fields.

While working at SIMS, I was encouraged to explore several personal projects as well as larger team endeavors. One of these included The Madison Beer Immersive Reality Concert Experience! A more complete article detailing some of the technical work behind creating this hyper-realistc virtual concert can be found here.

Responsibilities (Multiple Projects)

  • Provided backend technical support for asset translation as well as research and development engineering for the Madison Beer Immersive Reality Concert Experience
  • Presented two separate final projects to executives within Sony Immersive Music Studios, Sony Music, and Lenovo.
  • Helped guide undergraduate interns with their own personal projects - collating and recording resources for final presentations.
  • Conducted user studies with other interns and performed user research for future product releases.
  • Participated in remote workshop sessions with industry experts to learn the ins and outs of digital entertainment in the music industry.
  • Outcome & Skills Learned

During this Summer I honed my Unreal skills and learned to navigate managing several projects on a short timeline. I also focused on learning how to support my teammates in a remote work environment. It's always exciting to work on projects as an intern that will one day be guest-facing; at SIMS I felt very encouraged to pitch my own ideas and make them come to life!
